Welcome to my whirlwind of emotions and never-ending journey to self-love.
for those of you who don't know me, i'm karis
i'm 22 years old. i'm convinced my dog is my soulmate and have an unhealthy obsession with sour patch kids.

- getting angry at anti-feminist arguments
- secretly working on my kpop choreography skills
- working on my soccer skills in my backyard, to the amazement of none of my neighbors.

what am i doing here?
in my free time, you can find me:
i originally started this blog to talk exclusively about my relationship with food, health, and fitness. it turns out i have a lot more i want to talk about, and apparently i quite enjoy the design process as well. so came the birth of my personal website.

Never Miss a New Post.
Here are my monthly favorites:

NOW PLAYING
maybe it's the cynic in me, but i'm ~so sick of love songs~. okay, but seriously. if any of you relate, thankfully i made a playlist of all my favorite wholesome + (mostly) not love songs. in the absence of love songs, you'll find uplifting tunes about being you- ALL of you. the joy with the depression (plus a few love songs but ALL wholesome tunes!).
NETFLIX AND CHILL?
a lot of my thoughts and actions in the past month have been directly influenced by the sentiments of the late james baldwin. 'i am not your negro' triples as a racial seminar, commentary on popular film, and cultural exposé that has taught me so much in such little time. this film is a beautiful introduction to the light of james baldwin.
"i don't know if the board of education hates black people, but i know the textbooks they give my children to read, and the schools that we go to. you want me to make an act of fate [...] on some idealism you assure me exists in america which i have never seen."

MY 5-STAR BOOK REVIEWS
if you've ever responded to "how are you" with "good, just... busy", I cannot recommend this book enough. comer writes with concise, digestible language to help break down the complex incompatibility between busyness and soul nourishment. if we aren't careful, it's easy to give in to the rhythm of life and become shells of ourselves. let's create the rhythm instead.
MINDFULNESS
in a time which we are constantly consuming media, it can be helpful to set aside a specific social media-free time in your day. those app restriction features on the iPhone do not work. instead of feeling guilty for pressing 'Ignore limit for the day', try deleting the app completely for a certain period of time. this is currently my most successful method, simply because the effort to redownload the app is greater than my desire to scroll.
